Started judo aged 41 because my son started in the under 8’s class and I thought it would be a great father son bonding thing but also because I wanted to get fitter. I fell in love with the sport and have trained ever since, getting my Level 1 coaching badges in 2022 and my 1 st Dan in 2023.

I started Judo at the age of 11. I won many medals and received a few awards throughout my 11-year competitive period, starting with red belt rumbles in Moberly judo club, my best result was 7th at the European championships in Hungary Jun 2006, representing Great Britain. I’m a multiple national champion and was number 1 in my weight for many years in different weight classes, I became a 1st Dan at 17 back in 2007. I had to stop my competitive side but I’ve I taken up a Coaching role within the club to give back to the kids by experience as a judo competitive player.

My Judo journey started at the age of 6, I was a child with a lot of energy and Judo enabled me to focus that energy and installed the core values that still hold true
today.
By the age of 17 I had reached my 13 th Mon, my highlight was In May 1989 taking part in a two-day event between Basingstoke and Alencon in France.
At the age of 17 I stopped judo for and didn't return until I was age 42 when my son age of 6 started. I started again from a white belt was expertly tutored to achieve my long-standing goal of reaching my 1st dan in 2023, I believe there many aspects of Judo and everybody can learn something from the gentle way. I have since become a Welfare Officer and a Level 1 Coach.

I started Judo 6 years old. I won my first Bronze when I was 9 years old. It would be the first of many medals I would win throughout my 17 years competitive career. I've since twice been selected for the England squad, once in 2015 where I won a bronze medal as a pre-cadet, then again a year later in 2016. I was then part of the SN GB squad, winning a Bronze at the SN schools.
In 2019 I gained my black belt, before gaining a Level 1 coaching certificate and I now use my talents and experience to help people achieve their black belts and coaching certificates. I coach the under 8s and I also help out with the under 12s and Adult class.

Won many medals throughout a 10-year competitive period, starting with red belt rumbles and peaking with a bronze at the 2019 U18 Commonwealth Games representing England. Represented the NHC area in a team event and became a 1st Dan at 17. I ended my competing career due to university commitments but have taken up a Coaching role within the club as a level 1 coach which I do as and when I can. I finish University in 2024 and hopefully I can help out with more Coaching.

Assistant Coach, Black Belt
I have been at the club for many many years. I have seen players from 5yrs old go through the years as young competitive layers through to adults, gaining black belts and having children themselves who are now training at the club. I too gained my black belt a few years ago. I help with the Under 8’s. The club has been part of my life and will be as long as it can be.
